Sentinel Power Group Building the national standby power platform

When the grid goes down, your crew keeps the lights on. We're building the company behind them.

Sentinel Power Group partners with the dealers, installers, and service companies that keep homes and businesses running when the power fails — the standby generator specialists, the master electricians, and the techs who show up in the storm. We're not here to flip what you built or strip it for parts. We're here to carry it forward on a national platform — whether you want to lead the next chapter or step back knowing it's in good hands. That part is your call.

01Who we are

We're operators building a company of companies for the standby power dealer channel.

The standby power field is full of remarkable businesses that almost no one hears about. A family-run generator dealership that has installed half the homes on a barrier island. A two-truck service shop whose planned-maintenance customers have never lost power for more than a few seconds. A master electrician who can size a load, set a transfer switch, and get an inspection passed before the next storm rolls in.

These companies are built on decades of relationships, factory certifications, and a reputation that shows up the morning after the grid fails. They deserve a partner who understands that — not a spreadsheet that treats the certification as a line item and the on-call tech as an expense.

That's why we built Sentinel Power Group. We're assembling these dealers into one national platform so that the next time the power goes out, more homes and businesses stay on. And whether an owner wants to keep building or is ready to hand off what they've built, we bring the capital and the options to protect that coverage and grow it — not to extract from it.

"The best companies in this industry were built by people who've pulled the wire and turned the wrench. We think they should be bought by people who respect that."
— The founding principle of SPG
02What we back

We back the dealer channel — sell, install, and keep it ready.

We partner with proven, profitable companies across the full standby power lifecycle: the dealers who spec and sell the right system, the crews who install and interconnect it, and the service shops that keep it running for years. If your work keeps residential and light-commercial customers powered when the grid drops, we want to know you — including specialties not listed here.

Where we focus

We back the dealer, installer, and service channel — home standby, light-commercial, and critical-load systems the certified dealer network sells and maintains. We deliberately do not pursue the large industrial and mission-critical genset market served direct by the OEMs and their distributor service arms — data-center, utility, and megawatt-class prime power. Our thesis is the local dealer, not the national OEM branch.

03How it works together

The seconds after the grid drops — and the years that keep it ready.

Standby power isn't one product. It's a sequence: the grid fails, the switch senses it, the unit takes the load, and service keeps the whole thing ready for next time. We back a company at every stage of that sequence.

THE EVENT STORM WILDFIRE PSPS GRID STRAIN FAULT DETECTION — THE SWITCH SENSES IT The automatic transfer switch reads the loss of utility in seconds. Read top to bottom: the grid fails, the switch senses it, the unit takes the load, and service keeps it ready — so the customer stays on. SPG backs companies at every stage.

Seen another way, these companies aren't a stack — they're a circle. Each one strengthens the others, and all of them turn around the same center: the homes, businesses, and critical loads they exist to keep powered.

Seven functions, one connected system. Sell, install, interconnect, service, monitor, supply, and the training behind them all operate in tandem — and SPG is the platform that ties them together.

04Our promise to sellers

Three commitments we make to every owner we partner with.

Commitment 01

Partnership,
not a takeover

We partner to build, not to flip. That means real partnership structures and a fair share of the value we build together for owners who roll forward with us. Stay on and lead, move to an advisory seat, or transition out cleanly once the handoff is done — the role is your choice, never our condition.

Commitment 02

Stewards
of a legacy

Your name on the truck means something to the crews, the customers, and the community. We protect it. We keep the people who made the company what it is, honor the commitments you've made, and treat the culture you built as an asset worth defending — because it is.

Commitment 03

A reputation
we won't spend

In this business, reputation is earned one power-out at a time and lost in a single missed call. A national platform is only as strong as the trust behind each company in it. We hold the standard you set — and back it with the resources of a growing national footprint.

The deal we offer

A fair price, a clean process, and a promise we intend to keep: the company you spent a career building will be in better hands, keeping more customers powered, for longer — with your legacy intact.

05How a partnership works

From first call to close — four steps, no surprises.

This isn't an auction. It's a straight conversation between operators that ends with you as a partner in something national. Here's exactly how it goes.

01

First conversation

A confidential call — no banker required, no obligation. You tell us about what you've built. We mostly listen.

02

An honest look

We get to know the business and agree on a fair value. Respectful, light-touch diligence — we won't tie up your team for months.

03

Structure the partnership

We build terms around you: how much you sell, how involved you stay, and the role you want going forward.

04

Close & grow together

Your company joins the national platform and plugs into shared resources. Stay and share in the upside as we build something bigger — or hand off clean, knowing it's in good hands. Your choice.

The point

Stay to help build the platform or step away once the transition's done — either way, you're handing your company to people who'll protect what you made, and you can share in what it becomes if you choose to.

06Founder Services

You built it. You choose how involved you stay. We carry everything behind it.

The owners who built this industry didn't do it with a corporate playbook — they did it with a truck, a trade, and a reputation earned one install at a time. We're not here to replace that. We're here to take the weight of everything that isn't the work off your shoulders — so you can do more of what made you great, or step back and know every one of these functions is covered without you.

A seat at the table — if you want it

Owners who want to keep shaping the business are welcome to. Help steer where Sentinel Power Group goes — the standards we hold, the companies we welcome next, the way we grow. And owners who'd rather step back can hand it off knowing the people and standards they built are the ones carrying it forward. Stay or go, what you made keeps going.

What comes with the platform
01

People & Recruiting

Sourcing and keeping the techs, electricians, and installers this work demands — with training pipelines that don't run dry heading into storm season.

02

Licensing, Safety & Compliance

Electrical licenses current, NFPA 110 standards held, permits and inspections handled. The paperwork that protects your reputation, taken off your desk and done right.

03

Finance & Back Office

Accounting, payroll, and clean reporting — plus the capital and options to say yes to the next crew, the next territory, and a bigger service book.

04

Equipment, Parts & Purchasing

National buying power on units, transfer switches, parts, trucks, and insurance — and OEM standing a single dealer can never get alone.

05

Growth & Business Development

Builder and channel relationships, service-agreement attach, and new customers routed to the crews best placed to serve them — growth you couldn't chase on your own.

06

Technology & Systems

Dispatch, monitoring, CRM, and modern tools — without a six-figure IT project or a team you have to hire and manage yourself.

07Why SPG

We've run essential-service field businesses. That changes how we partner.

Our team has built and operated companies whose work is essential and whose customers can't wait — where a 2am call, an on-call rotation, and a hard deadline in bad weather are just the job. We don't approach this industry as tourists looking for a return. We approach it as operators who know what your crews carry.

That background isn't a marketing line. It's how we underwrite, how we diligence, and how we show up in the room. When we ask about your service book, your certification standing, or how your techs hold up through a storm-season surge, we're asking because we understand why it matters.

  • 01 Operator credibilityFounders who have run field-service businesses. We speak the language of the truck and the service book, not just the balance sheet.
  • 02 A real platform, not a holding penShared resources, OEM standing, back-office support, and capital to grow — so your company gets stronger and sells more inside SPG, not sidelined.
  • 03 Certainty and discretionWe move with purpose, keep conversations confidential, and don't waste an owner's time with a process that goes nowhere.
  • 04 Built to hold, built to growWe're building a durable national standby power company — not a short-hold trade. Your legacy lives inside something meant to last.
08National footprint

One company, ready wherever the next outage lands.

Outages don't respect state lines, and neither should the response. We're building a coast-to-coast platform so that an owner in Florida, Texas, or the Carolinas can plug into national scale — shared parts, cross-market coverage, OEM standing, and the purchasing power that comes with a single, well-run company behind many local dealers.

09Are we a fit?

If this sounds like your company, we should talk.

We're likely a fit if you

  • Run a healthy, profitable standby power dealer, install, or service business
  • Have a real service book and a reputation you'd protect at any cost
  • Want your people, your name, and your standards to carry forward
  • Are ready for a transition — whether you want to lead the next chapter or step away clean once it's done

What a partnership can give you

  • A fair valuation and a clean, confidential process
  • Cash at close — with the option to roll forward and share in the upside
  • National scale, shared resources, and growth capital behind you
  • A steward who will guard the legacy you spent a career building

Not sure you fit the profile? The dealer channel is wider than any list. If your company sells, installs, or services standby power, reach out — the conversation is confidential and there's no obligation.

10 Questions owners ask

The questions we get before the first call.

Straight answers to what owners actually want to know. If yours isn't here, ask it directly — we'd rather answer it than have you guess.

What kind of companies does Sentinel Power Group partner with?

Standby power companies in the dealer channel: residential standby dealers, light-commercial and critical-load specialists, installation and commissioning shops, transfer switch and interconnection contractors, planned-service and monitoring providers, and the parts, fuel, and training businesses behind them. If your company sells, installs, or services standby generators for homes and businesses, you're in our lane.

Do I have to stay and run the business after we partner?

No. That's your call, not our condition. Some owners want to keep building and lead the next chapter on a bigger platform. Others are ready for a clean handoff and want to know the company is in good hands. Both are welcome here.

You can stay on and lead, move to an advisory seat, or transition out entirely once the handoff is done. We'll build the structure around the role you actually want.

What happens to my name, my crew, and my reputation?

They carry forward. Your name on the truck means something to your customers and your community, and erasing it would destroy the thing that made your company worth partnering with. We keep the people who made the company what it is, honor the commitments you've made, and hold the standard you set.

Is Sentinel Power Group the same company as Sentinel Power Services, Inc.?

No. Sentinel Power Group is an independent company and is not affiliated with Sentinel Power Services, Inc. of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Fort Worth, Texas, or with its parent TechPro Power Group. We are also unaffiliated with Sentinel Power Services, LLC of Arizona and Sentinel Power, Inc.

Sentinel Power Group partners with owners of standby power dealer, installation, and service businesses. We are not an electrical testing or industrial engineering services firm.

What size company are you looking for?

Healthy, profitable companies with a real service book and a reputation worth protecting. We care far more about the quality of the work, the strength of the recurring service base, and the people than we do about hitting a particular revenue number. If you're profitable and well-run, start the conversation.

Do I need to be a factory-certified dealer to fit?

It helps, but it isn't a requirement. Factory certification with a major manufacturer is a genuine moat and we value it. That said, independent installation, service, and electrical companies that work across brands are just as much a fit, particularly where planned service and monitoring are a real part of the business.

Do you work with the large industrial and mission-critical generator market?

No, and that's deliberate. We focus on the dealer, installer, and service channel — home standby, light-commercial, and critical-load systems. We do not pursue the large industrial and mission-critical market served direct by the manufacturers and their distributor service arms: data centers, utilities, and megawatt-class prime power. Our thesis is the local dealer, not the national branch.

What happens to my service agreements and monitoring customers?

They're protected, and they're a large part of why we're interested. The recurring service book is the core of a well-run standby power company. We invest behind it — better scheduling, better parts availability, better monitoring — rather than stripping it for a short-term number.

What does a partnership actually pay?

A fair price at close, based on a real look at the business rather than a formula. Owners who want to roll a portion forward can share in the upside of the national platform as it grows. Owners who want a clean exit can take cash at close and hand off. Both structures are available — you choose which fits your plans.

Will you replace my management team?

No. We're partnering with the company because of the people in it, not in spite of them. Where an owner is stepping back, we work with them well ahead of the handoff to make sure the leadership underneath is set up to carry it — and we bring recruiting, training, and back-office support so the team isn't left thin.

How long does the process take, and how confidential is it?

A first conversation costs you nothing and stays between us. From there, a straightforward process typically runs a few months from first call to close, depending on how quickly information comes together. We keep it discreet: your employees, customers, and competitors don't hear about it from us.

How do I start a conversation without committing to anything?

Email owners@sentinelpowergroup.com. Tell us roughly where you are and what you're thinking about. No data room, no forms, no obligation — just a conversation between operators, and it stops there if that's where you want it to stop.

Question not answered here? Email owners@sentinelpowergroup.com and we'll answer it straight.
